More than a month back when I heard about Gina from my brother, I went into a state of denial. I couldn't get myself to accept the fact that she had left us - I was scared to go for her funeral because the thought of seeing Gina in a coffin was unbearably painful for me.

Hey Geens....Ash dropped in yesterday with some moussaka and banna pie and and we started talking about you. Well, not 'talking' exactly....just deep sighs and shaking our heads in disbelief saying 'I can't believe she's gone' over and over again like parrots. The JWT days came rushing back...and then we started to smile. It was fun!!! Thanks for making beautiful memories with us and for us Gina. I will treasure them till my last breath. All of us crowded around the tv watching India beat Sri Lanka in 1986, cussing when we lost transmission in the last over. Playing baseball at Chenoy, playing cr...icket in the colony. That train journey from Delhi, your mum and mine having given up on 7 rowdy kids who turned that train into a playground. The first party I went to that had girls present was the one you had for your classmates and I remember I had a blast and Chickoo blushed and blushed. Fast forward to a few years ago, seeing you grow with Trump It, Opus and the radio, you made me feel pride. You will be missed. Just thought i'd let you know that today, 8th Oct, will be almost 9 years since my Mom passed away. it was a terrible loss for my family & myself. We made it a point that we took a nice long break & spend time doing wat we loved to do....travelling, camping, doing a complete movie marathon, and all that jazz. So as for your 'to do' list....i too personally recommend that you do the same - take a nice long break. It gave us a peace of mind & a personal assurance with God that He's never going to leave us & will be with us every step of the way. Things will fall in place bro, in His time.

I'm not going to ask how you are doing...coz I know that's a really stupid question. I just pray that you are managing to cope a lil more with each passing breathe.

I just read the tribute you wrote & I have to say I've heard the expression 'getting choked up' a million times, & probably used it a couple of times my self. But I have never truely understood the meaning until I came to the end of your tribute. The muscles in my throat have literally closed up that I am actually finding it really hard to breathe.

I am so glad that I stayed back that extra day when I was in Bangalore. I did it solely coz of you & Gina much to my parent's dislike. And having the opportunity to visit you guys at you place is truely a 'blessing' I have to thank God for, before he took her to him.

You are truely blessed for having Gina in your life for so long, for I felt it being with her for the little time I spent with you'll on my holiday. And I can still picture that adorable smile she always wore & the extreme hospitality she showed me & so kindly opened the other house & took me around & explained everything.

I miss her so much although I didn't even know her sooo well (I'm really getting choked up again!!! literally!!!) & so I pray that you hold on to the wonderful memories you got to share together & I know she'll always live on in you.

I have thought of you every day since I heard this sad news. I never had the privilege of knowing Gina. Just reading about Opus and your plans and seeing that clip on CNBC I felt like I knew her. I could tell that she had the deadly combination of creativity and business. But most of all that you two were made for each other. Always been a fan of your singing (back from the I write the songs days, do you even remember that?). You could see how much you had grown as a singer and a person- and I am going to think that Gina had as much to do with it as your hard work.

It is not going to be easy. The next year may be one of the toughest. Take a break Carlton. Come to Bandra. I will be visiting there next weekend for two weeks. We make our homes thousands of miles away from Bandra- but there is something calming, something familiar about where we grew up. Take some time for yourself.

You seem to be holding up amazingly and I wish you every moment of strength.

It's difficult for me to know what to say at a time like this. I can only tell you that Aravinda and I have been thinking about and praying for you. I know it'll be tough but keep the faith maccha. At the end of the day there is not much other than faith and hope. These are the things that sort of make life livable if one can embrace them, however difficult. I've lost people along the way too, parents, close friends... some suddenly and some after long protracted illnesses. The only thing that I've been able to figure through all this is the so very fragile nature of life. And the constant testing of our ability to adapt and keep going.
The only thing that is inevitable is time... and as time goes on things become a little better. I still haven't completely gotten over my mother's death, but enough time has passed for me to continue with life and try and make sense of things. I sincerely hope that time will do it's job with you as well.
I will see you soon da. Perhaps we can spend some time together. I'll play some piano for you. Music is such a beautiful and healing thing. And may God give you the strength to get through the immediate future. I am sure he will.

i am not sure if you remember Viraf and I but we stayed in Bangalore for two years. we just happened across OPUS one night when we were looking for just a low key fun place to hang out and happened to meet Gina. we had no idea we were in such a hot spot at the time and she was so so wonderful and warm to two total strangers - and gave us a great seat! - that we just started coming back on sundays. and then we started coming with shivy and sabrina and aj and just always had the greatest time ... and so much was the warmth and kindness showed to the two of us by you and Gina. one of our last nights in bangalore before being exiled back to the states was spent at OPUS with sabs and shivy and everyone .... we have such wonderful memories of our time in bangalore from beginning to end of our stay because of the wonderful kindness and generosity of spirit of both you and Gina. we were total strangers in town but made such good friends and had such good times and much of that was because of OPUS. we are both so so sorry for your loss and wanted to tell you how much we thought of you and Gina and to extend all our love and prayers to you at this horrible time. with all the friends you all have in bangalore i am sure you are surrounded by love and support - but viraf and i wanted to write and extend our concolences to you and let you know what an impression your lovely wife made on us in just the short time we got to know her. may God rest her soul and bring you both peace.

Pls accept my deepest heartfelt condolences for your loss. Considering how i feel about this loss, heartbroken and somehow incomplete, i cant even begin to fathom what you would be going through.

Gina was an angel. I have had the pleasure of interacting with her a few times, both during my internship with Lever, when i came to TrumpIt on Lipton Ice tea, and was overwhelmed by the brilliance of her ideas. And all the times that i have come to Opus, she spent almost the entire evening with me, making me feel so special, and i'm sure she somehow made everyone feel the same way. She was omnipresent when alive, and i'm sure she is going to be with us long after she is gone.

Given her personality, it was the biggest surprise to hear that she had done something as dangerous as stepping out onto an unsafe place. That was not at all like her. I'm sure thats the bit that everyone is trying to figure out. I think that she was driven to this by the voice of God in her head, which told her to take the risk. He must have her safe with Him, it just doesnt feel safe for the rest of us who have to deal with it.

She was a total rockstar, her smile, her energy, her indomitable spirit... i'm sure i dont need to extoll her virtues to you. you know her better than anyone else :(

It will take a lot of time to come to terms with this, and i'm sure it wont go away completely for the rest of your life. Just keep in mind that she lived life to the fullest, in a way that most of the world only dreams of... living her dreams and ambitions, surrounded by the people she loved, and who loved her back. I'm sure, wherever she is, she will not be looking back and thinking about all the roses she didnt stop to smell, becuase she lived each day completely, doing all the things she loved.

I keep you in my prayers at this time, and i'm sure God will give you the strength to slowly get through this. If you need a break, and want to get away from it all, come visit me in Bangkok, the change of scene may help.

i knew gina for a very short period during my internship. i thought that everyone in this business of music,food and high flying social life are ver shallow, proud,have their noses a notch up in the air. when i met Gina and everyday when i came in early and look for the key to the studio, she never failed to tell me, someone she had known for barely a day or two, to come into her house and have a cup of coffe. evryone would sit outside your apartment and smoke with their cups of coffe and in my head id go 'hmm..thats what this life is about .. look at those shallow show offs"but not once did Gina ever give off that vibe. i thought so often, wow, this lady is really different from the rest. she is so different. she's not like the others. im sure you've heard this many times over but, the warmth in her heart, the intelligence in her mind to know what cut it and what wouldntt is something that will never go away. i cant imagine the amount of loss you feel like something from inside you has been taken and ripped out leaving the biggest fuckin gapping hole .. void .. space .. empty. you know in your heart what she would've wanted for you to do,as hard as it is .. you have a piece of her .. in trumpit .. at opus .. its all her,keep it safe and keep yourself safe, its where she came to rest after a tiring day .. she came home to you. god bless you Carlton,remembering you everyday ... we all loved Gina, thats the kind of person she will always be remembered as .. yes Life=Gina and god was gettin a tad to bored up there, he needed Gina to light up his day like we needed her so much here. she's in a better place,a peaceful place.

Anirban informed me about Gina's 'freak' accident! I wasn't sure whether to believe it or not, till he confirmed it was the one and the same GINA!
Words can never soothe or explain loss of this magnitude snuffed out in an instant.
However, from my own personal experience of such premature loss I can share with you this much, that the sooner you accept it without seeking explanations from the universe, the earlier will be revealed to you the answers to all your numerous questions!

Its unbelievable when saloni and anupam told us about the unfortunate incident this morning. But then those are the Gods ways. Maybe he loved her more than u to have her with him at this young age. I am so deeply sorry that you have lost the most dearest person in ur life today.Im sure the whole of Bangalore r going to feel a hole that can never be replaced or filled.
I have never lost someone so close to me so I dont know but can only imagine the pain U must be going through. I know Gina was very very proud of U in everyway posible and now that her life has been fulfilled Jesus took her away to rest in a better place. She will always be looking down on U and guiding you thru the right path.
Our memories aren't always reliable, especially when they are shadowed by pain and depression but as time heals you through I do hope U remember all the good times with Gina coz there sure has been many and ur Opus empire will be her rock made for u to rely n lean on. Be strong and be there for each other. Alot of love will get you through this and I am sure u will get all the support though this hard time. my friends and i have always wondered how u two could have found such perfectly made for each other soul mates and life partners.

I was shocked when Rivka called me last night and told me about the tragedy. I was longing to meet Gina, after your visit here and somehow felt from the closeness that Riv shared with all of you there that we had already met.
